The True Puzzle – Generating Sudoku

After just a few short weeks as the newest Sudoku puzzle supplier for the Winnipeg Free Press, we’ve gotten a lot of feedback regarding our Sudoku puzzles.

The two main concerns were:

  • The Sudoku Puzzles were not properly ranked.
  • The Sudoku Puzzles did not have a symmetrical pattern

Thanks to all of this feedback, we’ve restructured the Sudoku ranking algorithm as well as our Sudoku Generating application and as of July 1st the Winnipeg Free Press’ Sudoku Puzzles will contain properly formatted and ranked puzzles.

Erk’s Werks was given the opportunity to develop a few custom Facebook applications, the first application we developed was Erk’s Sudoku. This application was written in PHP, using the Facebook API and FBJS. We learned how to make our application interface with Facebook and had fun developing this application.
